# SUBSTITUTE

Substitute’s new_text for old_text into the given value.

### Syntax

`SUBSTITUTE(val, old_text, new_text)`

### Example

If *myfield* has value 'ABC|DEF', then:

```plaintext
   SUBSTITUTE({{myfield}}, '|', '\n') replaces | with new line
```

returns:

`ABC`  
`DEF`
